3D TVs

Whilst there is sure to be a massive increase in the number of 3D TVs that make it to market during 2010 and into 2011 there aren’t that many 3D compatible sets out there right now. Amongst the major TV makers Philips are leading the way. Perhaps even more exciting, Philips are advancing technology that doesn’t require the viewer to wear 3D glasses at all:-

Sticking to the more traditional method of 3D several other manufacturers already have their 3D TVs available to buy including Samsung and Panasonic whilst Sony are due to launch their first 3D TV display in the summer of 2010. As with all new technology expect to pay a premium for your first 3D TV. Samsung’s range of 3D TVs features the C7000, C8000 and C9000. How much would you be prepared to pay for a 3D TV? Well the entry level LED display will set you back $2000 whilst you can fork out a massive $7000 for the top of the range model. LCD models will be available soon bringing the price down to a slightly more affordable $1700 for a standard 46″ LCD display.

There will be an obvious comparison between the move to 3D and the move to HD. Early adopters will not only be paying out the most for their new TVs but will also been seen as guinea pigs perhaps by some of the manufacturers. Is this a price your average technology nerd is willing to pay in order to experience true 3D TV technology in the comfort of their own home, I’m sure it is!
