This is brilliant news for anybody with a PS3 and a 3D TV. Sony have made Wipeout HD one of the 5 games that people can choose from as part of their welcome back package. Once patched this gives you an (excellent) full 3D game for free.

3D Option Not Available In Gran Turismo 5?
Gran Turismo 5 is still the defacto 3D experience for gamers. If you are looking for something to show off to your friends then you can’t go far wrong by offering them a look at GT5. However, this is all dependent on you being able to activate 3D mode and it seems that a lot of people have had a problem doing just that. Here is the solution.

WipeOut 3D For The PS3 Is Go!
As the momentum behind 3D technology slowly grows Sony have become the latest company to firm up their 3D plans.
Playstation 3 gamers can look forward to 3 3D games available in the very near future, Wipeout HD, Super Stardust HD, and PAIN. All 3 will be available to download via the PS3 store. In addition to these full games Sony will also be releasing a 3D demo in the shape off Motorstorm Pacific Rift. As anybody who owned an original Playstation will remember WipeOut was THE must have game for that console and was a major part in Sony’s console success. Sony will be hoping that a 3D version of WipeOut will not only help shift more PS3′s but also the Sony 3D TVs.
Of course in order to enjoy this 3D content you’ll also need a 3D enabled TV and Sony will be following up in this respect very soon. The initial line-up will see 2 models being made available (US launch first) a top of the line 60 incher and a more family friendly 52 inches. The 60 inch moster will have a price tag of around $5000 whilst the 52 incher will “only” set you back $4200. Go large or go home is what I say.
In addition to these 3D enabled TV Sony are also planning on releasing 5 other 3D ready TV’s, these will require you to buy an extra syncro box and glasses but with prices starting at around $2100 for a 40 inch 3D ready TV it could be the perfect way easing yourself into 3D.
The final piece of the 3D puzzle for Sony is 3D blueray. That have plans to update several Bluray players making them 3D enabled in the very near future, including amongst these will be the Playstation3 which whilst already 3D enabled for games hasn’t had an update for Bluray yet.
On a personal note this is all about WipeOut for me, I really can’t bloody wait!
